Yesterday, I headed off to the lash guru Elaine at Up To My Eyes to have a set of luxury mink eyelashes applied (costs €120)
While I was excited about getting these done, I was a little apprehensive that they would look like something Jordan would were. The nerves were settled when I had a consultation with Elaine.
I explained how I wanted more definition to my eyes by adding a curl, as although I have long lashes they are very light and straight. Elaine was very helpful and explained that Up To My Eyes do the extensions to suit your eyes and your lifestyle.
So upstairs we went to the lovely treatment room which features very comfy treatment couches and an even comfier pink furry blanket.
First up was a collagen eye pads placed on the lower lashes to help keep them out of the way and to give your under eye area some pampering. I’d a reaction to the first eye mask causing my eyes to go all watery (typical with me as I’ve never been good with things done around my eyes) This was fixed quickly by applying a collagen eye pads more suitable to those of us who suffer from sensitive eyes.
The procedure itself took an hour, and was quite relaxing once my eyes started to behave themselves. The lashes should last four weeks (once cared for properly) as they fall out as your eyelashes grow. Refills cost €50 for Mink Eyelashes
Aftercare is etremely imporant so the lashes last well and after the treatment I was given aftercare advice:
- Do not touch eyelashes at all for at least 3 hours afterwards
- Do not wet lashes for 24 hours afterwards
- Never get oil or moisturiser on the lashes as oil degrades the glue and they will fall off quicker.
- Wear goggles if you can inthe shower to avoid the pressure of hot water
- Do not rub the eyes or use a lash curler unless it is specifically designed for extensions.
- Makeup can still be worn but avoid any oil based products touching lashes.
- Use an oil free makeup remover and cotton tips to remove makeup (Up To My Eyes recommen Simple products)
- If mascara must be worn, ONLY use one specific for extensions.
- The glue is semi permant and eyelashes fall out at a rate of 1-5 refills a day so infills will be required after approx 3 weeks.
- Don’t attempt to remove extensions yourself. It is a simple procedure that can be done at Up To My Eyesfree of charge.
- It is advisable to wear a protective coating which can be bought at the salon
The Golden Rule with Eyelashes is No Touching, Rubbing or Pulling at all
